Multimodal 

• Mode- Is a way of communicating

• Multi modal- is how we describe to unique ways of communicating in everyday lifestyle.

EX: Lolcats 
- Uses humor and incorrect grammar to use mode and multiple modes to be funny.

Modes

EX:

• Newspaper
• Science Reports
• Scrapbooks 
• Music Videos

Linguistic Mode

-Refers to use of language (spoken or written text).

• Word choice
• Organization of writing or speech into phrases, paragraphs and etc

EX:
Contemporary communicating by Carl-Henric Svanberg dealing with the 2010 oil spill in Gulf of Mexico. 
    
Visual Mode 
-  Use of images and other characteristics readers see

• color
• layout
• size
• perspective 

EX:
Twitter's profiles to have more of whole concept of what each page is.
  
Aural Mode 
- Is focused in sound

• sound effects
• silence 
• emphasis and accent
• music
• ambient noises/sounds

EX:
The eagle noise supports the comedic tone of the program.

Spatial Mode   

-Physical arrangement

• arrangement
• organization
• proximity between people or objects

EX:
A author who makes brochures must be able to put all the information in a proper organized manner to be read easily.

Gestural Mode

-Way of movement, such as body language.

• facial expression
• hand gestures
• interaction with people

EX:
For instance, how a news reporter opens up his screen and how their body language is going along with the news.
