Researchers do not entirely understand the causes of teen depression, but have discovered some key factors involved. Usually it is not just one thing that triggers depression in teenagers, but a combination of some of the following factors:
  • One of the main causes of teen depression seems to be an imbalance of neurotransmitters, or chemicals that carry signals in the brain. Scientists are not sure what causes this imbalance, but this aspect of depression may be genetic.
  • Having a parent with depression increases the risk that a teen will have depression. Researchers are unsure whether this is due to genetic factors in depression or if actions or attitudes leading to depression may be learned by the teen of a depressed parent.
  • Traumatic life changes such as a move, divorce, death of a loved one, or even the loss of a friend or boy/girlfriend can bring on symptoms of depression. Though sadness is a part of the normal grieving process, when a teen cannot overcome this sadness it leads to depression.
  • Other stresses, such as troubles at home, at school, or in relationships, or the normal challenges of being a teenager, sometimes contribute to depression.
  • A negative outlook, either due to personality traits or negative past experiences, makes a person more likely to suffer from depression. Some examples of negative mindsets include taking personal blame for actions beyond one’s control, connecting the negative events that occur in life so that they seem to be a pattern of “nothing ever goes right,” seeing a temporary setback or bad situation as permanent, low self-esteem, and hopelessness.
  • Teens who have not learned to handle the normal stresses of life well, or who face a trauma that they cannot deal with, often suffer from depression. Abuse?physical, emotional, or sexual?is one form of trauma associated with depression.
  • Being bullied or being a bully can contribute to depression.
  • Chronic illness or a debilitating injury can trigger teen depression, and some medications, infections, and illnesses can also bring on depression or symptoms that look like depression.
  • Previous bouts of depression increase the risk that a teen will suffer from depression, and can cause or increase negative mindsets.
  • Suffering from another untreated mental disorder, such as an eating disorder, anxiety disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or ADD), or conduct disorder can increase the risk of teen depression. ? Scientists have linked the use of drugs or alcohol to the onset of teen depression.
  • Other poor health choices, such as not eating right, exercising, or getting enough sleep, and not being involved in positive activities, have been linked to episodes of teen depression.
  • Teenaged or adolescent girls going through puberty are at higher risk for depression.
Though there are some negative choices a teenager or parent may have made that contributed to teen depression, many of the causes of depression are outside anyone’s control. Teens should not feel that they deserve to feel depressed, nor should parents spend time blaming themselves for their teen’s depression. It is important to remember that negative patterns can be changed and most teens with depression feel better with treatment.

Tomorrow's bad seeds was formed by Moises Juarez the lead singer and Mathew McEwan the guitars/turntablist in Hermosa beach, California in 2004. Mats cousin, Johnny McEwan joined the band as their drummer later that year. The band had two bass players over the years the original bass player was Al Arnado, after he left the band he was replace by Andre Davis. They also added Sean Chapman later on as a guitar player and backup vocalist; he was a long time friend of the band he even to high school with some of them. The band use to be from a graffiti crew called TBS; they use the acronym to come up with the band’s name Tomorrow Bad Seeds. They released their reggae rock album Early Prayers in June 2007 with the independent label Urban Tone Records.  After dropping their debut album they toured all over Hawaii 4 times that year..(Wikipedia)
Reggae is music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its Diaspora. While sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance musice the term reggae more properly denotes a particular music style that was strongly influenced by traditional mento and calypso music, as well as American jazz and rhythm and blues, especially the New Orleans R&B practiced by Fats Domino and Allen Toussaint, and evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rocksteady. Reggae usually relates news, social gossip, and political comment. Reggae spread into a commercialized jazz field, being known first as ‘Rudie Blues’, then ‘Ska’, later ‘Blue Beat’, and ‘Rock Steady. It is instantly recognizable from the counterpoint between the bass and drum downbeat, and the offbeat rhythm section. The immediate origins of reggae were in ska and rock steady; from the
latter, reggae took over the use of the bass as a percussion instrument. Since most of the group grew up in the South bay, they were highly influenced by the reggae, rock, punk culture and bands like Sublime, Pepper, and Pennywise among others. After releasing both records TBS has established the band's sound as a fusion of rock, reggae, ska punk, surf rock, hip hop, and blues.(Wikipedia)

It was the 7th inning. We were up 7-6. We made a big come back last inning. The crowd was going crazy yelling Compton!!!! Compton!!!! I was tired. My jersey was wet full of sweat and dirt. I was still trying to catch my breath, but every time I took a deep breath, I could smell hot dogs cooking and wet grass. We’re two outs from winning the game. I could remember this like it was just yesterday. I heard the crack of the bat, it was a shot to center field I looked up and took off running. I gave everything I got left in my legs to track the ball to the wall. I jumped full speed into the wall, and I heard a big pop right when I hit the wall. Then I felt a sharp pain in my arm like someone ripped it off. But all I could think of if I made the catch. I looked in my glove and the ball was there. The pain was too much so I just fell on the floor I knew right then and there that my life was about to change.
