Pedophilia: A Disorder, Not a Crime
 By: Margo Kaplan

Believe it or not, pedophilia has frequently occurred around the world. It is a natural sexual attraction to children experienced by adults. It has been stated that pedophilia is in reality a mental illness and not a crime someone commits just because. Our state laws ignore these pedophilia incidents that only result in punishment and not prevention, nothing is really being done to help any child that can be at risk of any harm or a person suffering from this illness. Some jobs can easily be lost if trying to seek help for the reason that a bad impression will be made if being seen walking out receiving treatment. As stated by Margo Kaplan "A second misconception is that pedophilia is a choice" concluded that a person can have that mentality but it's their choice to act on it. Studies proved that adults suffering from this disorder lack neural pathways in the brain, are more likely to be left-handed, and childhood experiences. Any person that has committed any type of child molestation will always be entitled to some type of punishment. Seeking help will not only benefit a person, but it will also keep a minor from any kind of harm.

Organization: Virped

Also known as Virtuous Pedophiles is more of an online help center whose purpose is to comfort and give advice to a person suffering from pedophilia. Both of the founders are pedophiles and they created this site so that pedophiles can communicate with one another and tell each other about their story. They confirmed that there is a huge number of pedophiles who do not molest children. Information on how they got the disorder, resources and advice is provided so a person can live a normal live. They believe it's okay to have this mentality because no one ever chose to have it, and by helping one another they can all get through it together.

Child abuse

Far fewer Los Angeles County children died because adults had neglected or abused them in 2014, leaving elected officials and experts encouraged — and pondering why.The number killed dropped from 61 in 2013 to 32 last year as county officials continued an overhaul of the safety net for children, including more training for social workers and an increased emphasis on safety that has resulted in an increase in the number of children removed from their parents to be placed in foster care.Officials cautioned that the tally might still inch up slightly as they await additional reports from the coroner, but it appeared likely that last year would have the fewest recorded abuse and neglect fatalities since 2008, when a state law required the county to begin releasing the statistics.

Social Issue: Animal Rights

Industrial farming is one of the worst crimes in history
                      Author: Yural Noah Harari

The main argument of this article is the treatment of domesticated animals being the worst crime in history. Animals raised in farms are treated badly and are emotionally uncared for. Farmers only worry is to keep them alive and reproducing. These animals suffer and yet live on and multiply. They are locked in tiny cages, have their horns and tails cut off, separated from their mothers and offsprings, and finally breeded so they can repeat the same crime. "Industrial farming is responsible for more pain and misery that all wars put together", as said by the author. In conclusion the author says it is time to end this crime. We have the ability to end their suffering and make the world better for all beings. Animals suffer, they feel pain too. They can also feel happiness but it is up to us.

The organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was founded in March of 1980 by Ingrid Newkirk and Alex Pacheco. It is located in Norfolk, Virginia. A non-profit charitable organization. Their goal is to end the abuse and use of all animals. They hope to educate the public and stop all forms of animal suffering. In order to accomplish all this, they have investigations, they treat and re-home animals, and they even work with celebrities to gain more public interest.
